5 Mid-Season Style Updates

So last time I checked it was still January. It’s pretty cold and wet and we’ve read our Christmas books, watched Making A Murderer, kept up our rudimentary plans to do more yoga and meditation and have started paying off the credit card and heating bill, a summer holiday hasn’t been booked yet and I have already given up on my epistolary novel. Anyway I digress. What helps at this time of year is to indulge oneself, a banana milkshake, whiskey sour on a Monday, pasta loaded with chorizo and parmesan, and more chorizo, reading back-issues of Vanity Fair, listening to last year’s podcasts, old Bowie records, Higher Love by James Vincent McMorrow on a loop, Kanye West’s new offering, painting your bathroom a crass colour, making profiteroles and eating them as you go and booking tickets to a summer festival you are too old for, OH and buying a pretty top.

I have wandered high and low and here is my pick of the most cheerful finds around that can be teamed with the very versatile mum jeans, striped palazzo pants, leather minis, black cigarette pants and skinny jeans.

FIRST UP – my bargain find from Zara for 9.99 – Only size XS left but it actually fits beautifully, Lots of them in Dundrum and city centre store.

Or the new version for 39.95 if you don’t fancy searching through the sale rails.

This next top is also from Zara and was 25.99 and is a nod to the Cruise Collections. It’s fun and flirty, the stripes are easy to wear and it’s very comfy.

Then there’s this little ladylike beauty from Zara, it’s 39.99 and from the New Collection  – it is quite cropped but you could throw a camisole underneath or wear it with a silk and lace green bra and leather pants or over a silk slip dress.

Then for something different, this jumper from urban Outfitters is lovely with silk palazzo pants or high waist denim flares or a denim mini and trainers. It was in the Reusable Vintage collection and costs 55 euro.  It is boxy so be sure to roll up the sleeves or glam it up with makeup so you don’t look like a Pro-Baller.

And then this beauty from Topshop is pricey, It is 89.95 and can still be bought online. It is see-through so may need a top underneath and can feel quite heavy with all the embellishment but is so snug and cheerful.

Finally I bought this in Zara and still don’t know what to do with it……

Corina and I will be back blogging more regularly from February, but for now, like us on Facebook for updates; ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to life’ or listen to my recent Podcast with Emma Is The new Black – we talked all things fads, Zara, slaves to fashion and muses.
