You may or may not know this but I present childrens’ fashion on Ireland AM ( it’s okay – no offence taken!) It’s not frequent – about once a month give or take a week, but it’s something I look forward to – aside from spoiling the kiddy models rotten with treats and movies at 7:30 am, finding out more and more about the world of Childrens’ fashions fascinates me! ..there are seasonal trends, fashion week fashion shows dedicated to mini fashion moguls, lookbooks, mood boards, pretty much anything that goes for mens and women’s fashion has a place in the world of minis a la moda.
Now I am a seasoned high street shopper for my two little ‘angels’..and yes, I am one of those Mums who dresses them the same for special occasions (I may as well for as long as I can!), and I have them in the same colour in the playground – just so that I can spot them easily.
I dress them sensibly and try to keep them stylish.…(I mean, a girl’s gotta have standards ..am I right or am I right??).. My eldest daughter attends a non uniform school and whilst that might seem like a morning time nightmare to many parents – I love it!!! (so far). She could be dressed in PENNEYS on a Monday and PEARL on a Tuesday..I don’t believe in keeping good clothes for good occasions – there aren’t nearly enough ..so I want fancy clothes to get worn..simple as…
But I’ll tell you what – I won’t be spending €500 euro on a bloody Burberry mac for my kids – ZARA have great imitations in navy and cream!. No, you’ll find me having a sift through the rails in TK MAXX on a quiet school morning (you couldn’t get me in there on a weekend)…I buy a year ahead in sales, and at the risk of creating ‘Mini Me’s’..I usually stick to the classics.
My Mum was one of those Wonder Women who ran a home, raised 5 kids, and made it all look easy.
She even made the coolest maxi dresses for my sister and I – did we appreciate it at the time??..not a hope in hell!!!! I can’t sew – full stop. But give me an hour in the kids section of a store and I could shop for Ireland..yes, yes, it’s a gift…anyway here are a few of the looks in store for us this coming season for our offspring who are blissfully ignorant to the importance we place on what they wear, where they wear it, and when to throw it out….
I did a post on teenage fashion recently, I also did one on Penneys AW15, Bex did a post on what Zara has to offer for the season ahead and if you are still in summer mode here are some of our best buys.
Bex will have your That’s A Wrap on Sunday. Then I’ll be back with some helpful packing tips for those of you heading to Electric Picnic next weekend.
We are also in Loreto Beaufort next Tuesday for the first Transition Year workshop of the new school term. Exciting stuff.
Have a great weekend.
