The Final Fling

And so it came just like it said it would, it’s the last Bank Holiday of summer 2015. Jeez that went bloody fast.

If, like me, you work every Bank Holiday and if, like Corina, you have two small people to entertain it may not be so easy to leave the old sod.

So if you will be in Dublin, or near enough, here are some of our favourite things to do………

Castletown House

CastletownHouse29

There is something truly dignified about Castletown House in Celbridge…and it has no playground so you’d think children aren’t interested..right?..wrong..this stately home is as welcoming today as it was in it’s heyday when Lady Lennox was the Bean An Ti… I became fascinated with Castletown House whilst attending evening talks about fashion, costume design and maternity clothing, of all things, last summer,  and I keep going back now with the family.  As I said it has no playground – but it DOES have a beautiful restaurant set in the original kitchens I believe,  and extensive grounds to wander around.  With a beautiful stream and plenty of sandy inlets that will tire your little angels out and give everyone a peaceful night’s sleep. Bray Summerfest

Due to finish on Monday, Bray Summerfest is always a melting pot of talent and entertainment. Smash Hits play live on the Iconic Bandstand on Sunday and there’s fireworks on Monday. From a parental point of view – It’s a few hours of magic all along the sea front.  So go prepped with coinage and enjoy ice creams, carnival, and craic… Corina

Malahide Castle

Another home of the ancient aristocracy that has become a playground for the 21st century child..amazing playground (with the all important zip-slide!), Avoca, and stunning walks – not to be missed at any time of the year but ideal for Bank Holidays!! Corina
